About This Tour

This walk follows film, television and music history through Manhattan, from a Tribeca firehouse and Lower East Side deli to the stages and landmarks of Midtown and the Upper West Side. Each stop is a real place with a documented link to a film, a broadcast or a musical moment, from a 1933 monster movie and a 1957 romance to a 1964 television debut and a 1980 tragedy. You will also see the buildings themselves: an Art Deco skyscraper, a Beaux-Arts terminal, a neo-Gothic theater and a nineteenth-century apartment house. Some places are open to visitors and some are private, so the walk notes which are which. Hours change, so check each website before you go.
