About This Tour
Alexander Hamilton's New York ran from farmland at the island's northern tip to the wharves at its southern end. This walk follows that distance, moving between houses, churches, a college site, a battlefield and a harbor fort. Several of the places here date from his lifetime: a Washington headquarters, a tavern where officers said goodbye, and the churchyard where he is buried.
Tour Highlights
Washington's 1776 headquarters, the oldest surviving house in Manhattan
The country house Hamilton built in 1802, moved twice and now in a park
